At least as of 4/29/15 they have done \"quilt work patching\" of the lower 1/3 or so of this route.
The patches are done very very poorly with lots of loose asphalt on the surface, some of the edges are probably 1/2 to 1 inch higher than the road surface and in some cases they are lower.
There is no way to safely navigate the corners in this area with any decent speed.
I hope they do not continue up the mountain and ruin the entire roadway for motorcycle traffic!

You will definitely want to travel this road South to North so you will be pulling uphill in the twisties. This road has lots of elevation change, very tight corners, switch backs etc.
Don´t take this road lightly, it contains some very dangerous curves.
