As others have said, the section from Bridgwater to Minehead has very few legal overtaking spots, and so even in light traffic can be a desperately frustrating ride. Fine if you are just out for a gentle trundle.
The views are lovely though
Gets much more fun after Minehead, and you can continue down the A39 way into Cornwall if you wish.

This is a lovely ride for views, especially between Porlock and Lyouyh, but can be spoilt by heavy slow grockle traffic and double white lines

A cracking road by all accounts. Such a mix of twisties, hills and fast sweepers youll love it. Scenery is amazing at times. Can be busy during the hoilday silly season and trying to get past those pesky caravans can be a nightmare. The drops down into, and up out of, Lynmouth and Porlock are hard work on the brake pads but great fun all the same. Watch for the odd cattle grid here and there, stone walls and 200ft drops straight down to the sea. Take some extra cash and pick up some fudge from Lynmouth, good little chip shop there too.

What a beauty! Did this route on Easter Sunday and the traffic was not too bad at all. When you get to Lynmouth follow the A39 round and go up the "mountain road" and then drop back down into Lynton on the B3234, then keep going round until you have enough or do this small loop the other way round a few more times for good measure. Good for practising your moves for the Alps.

A39 between Williton & Bridgwater is mainly double white lines. Get stuck behind something and thers very little (legal) chance of passing. Nice scenery though!

This is a great road off-season. It is worth considering extending the route to Barnstaple on the A39 for more nice bends or even a small detour to Combe Martin for some really tight bends (Alps-like)

Did I say the A483 to Dulverton? I meant the A396. Doh!

This is a cracking road, with rapidly changing views over distant moorland, woodland valleys, rolling patchwork hills, and of course the ever-present sea to the North. There are some good fast stretches it's true, but it is policed, and holiday traffic can be very busy, particularly at week-ends. Go out of season to avoid this, or ride midweek. IMO it's more of a road for views than for scratching. Keep going beyond Lynmouth and you'll reach the world's prettiest tea rooms/gardens at Watersmeet. We stayed in Lynton's poshest B&B, the Victoria Hotel, where we were very well looked after indeed. Try a diversion at Dunster on the A483(?) (+2 miles on a minor road) South to Dulverton. Where you'll find another charming teashop. Selworthy, a couple of miles past Minehead on the original A39, has yet another teashop gem, make sure you sit outside in the little garden though.

My introduction to this road was when I first learned to ride, It is an exceptional road but people do get killed on this road, so be careful. If you get to know this piece of road well it is the business. Be careful around St Audries as the road narrows and it has 6ft stone walls running either side, You think the isle of man is dangerous, try coming off here and living. Apart from that enjoy this piece of road, but get to know it before "going for it" RIP Paul,Darren

This is an excellent route across the top of the North Devon coast, if you've never ridden it, you should definitely try it. Really nice bends, good scenary and some interesting gradients. The only downside is that it can be a bit busy at times.
