One of the best routes in Romania. Unfortunately the road works are stopped for now and the aspahlt is full of pothholes and undulations. I'll post a new review after it's finished.
This street cannot be compared to Transalpina or Tranfagarasan but it is still a nice road with a lovely landscape around. The quality of the street differs: from extraordinary good to gravel to bad. But still you’ll enjoy the trip. I did this in September 2015 with a street bike: Honda CB 1100 EX...
Exhilarating fast, long corners, with good asphalt, always a joy to ride. No particular scenery (hills, forest). You may want to visit Sighisoara medieval fortified city (in the center).
Danubes Gorge Transylvania , Romania July 31, 2012 - 3.5
All the route goes through a spectacular scenary, sometimes very impresing. For a full experience I also recommend the same road but on the opposite margin of the Danube(in Serbia).
The road condition is: Bazis - Moldova Noua - very good Moldova Noua - Orsova - average(some parts are ve...
A nice rural route through the northern end of Apuseni Mountains. Between Ciucea and Cizer is the most interesting part of the road with some nice corners to ride. The rest of it is a pleasent ride for views.
A very nice secondary road, a bit narrow through villages but with good asphalt(except 800m of bad asphalt from DN75 until the county limit Alba/Cluj). Its not long(only 30 kms) but its full spectacular scenary: Piatra Secuiului(Rock of the Szeklers Massif), Cheile Valisorii(Valisoara Gorges) and in...
This is one of my favourite route in Romania. The quality of the road it's good for standard and enduro-touring bikes, but it's pour for speed bikes. Also, until late May some corners are full of sand.
A very nice road that is let down by quite bad surface in places. Fine on a dualsport or adventure bike but not really recommended for anything sportier. The hard tarmac mixed with cobbles and potholes is worse for a stiffly sprung bike than gravel. Otherwise beautiful environment heading up to t...
Turning off the DJ113 to the minor road up to the lake, this is a beautiful road in a scenic tourist area. Road surface on this section is much better than the DJ113, the road flows nicely and some very nice curves. The last section is a toll down to the lake itself. You can walk the last bit if you...
Gravel and light off road. lots of nice turns, no one else about, nice forest scenery. Not really suitable for bikes without long travel suspension. Quiet and scenic area.
Fast straight sections with decent visibility and reasonable surface mixed up with some nicer high speed corners on the mountain on the way into Sibiu. The main problem seemed to be crazily restrictive speed limits on the mountain section and the unannounced holes on the road when entering the city,...
Racetrack wide but with many solid white lines, otherwise this road would deserve a higher rating but there can be a lot of traffic in both directions which makes passing tricky (although better going uphill from north to south as there are more sections of dual carriageway). There are many nice tig...
Nice primary road with pleasant rural landscape and lots of nice corners of various speeds and quite good road surface quality. Going north it is quite a normal road for several kms before it becomes a very nice scenic road with low traffic and lots of nice curves. Use caution when passing large...
Some really excellent fast switchbacks, if a bit bumpy in places. This road has a great flow and is well suited to a sportier riding style. There are no real slow corners and so it is really easy to pass other vehicles. I really liked this one.
Open rural road with forest views, averagely good surface (very good compared to what else you might find in this area) and quite light traffic volume. Some trucks which can be tricky to pass as road is narrow and curvy but a nice ride. There is a particularly nice selection of uphill hairpins.
It’s a scenery only road, passing beside lake Rosu (Red lake) and the spectacular Bicaz gorges. The road condition is awful with lots of potholes and huge traffic.
Starts off quite dull at the Gheorgheni end with long straight sections through villages. About half way along this road becomes a quiet sweeping forest mountain road which is really nice riding. Combinations on medium speed open corners in the calming forest, surface a bit patchy in places but most...
Nice rural/mountain route and one of the main acces roads to Maramures region. The scenery is pleasent and near Moisei is spectacular(the spread villages all over the mountain and in the south you can see Pietrosul Rodnei Peak).
The road surface is various from good quality aspahlt to some un...
Although a secondary road, usually unknown to foreign tourists, this is No. 1 biking road in Romania for its all sorts of countless twisties (there is only one road passing by Anina that may challenge its first rank in this respect), with good asphalt. Medium scenery.
Maintain some reserve for in-...
The road climbs from Huedin to Apuseni Mountains through some villages(not interesting), the aspahlt quality is medium(a bit rough for a sport bike) and the scenary and road start to be nice only after Calatele. There might be police at the exit from Huedin.
A mixed road that is very enjoyable. It starts off a bit patchy but then becomes an excellent forest road in beautiful surroundings with some nice corners. It was raining when I rode it on my GS but it was still fun as there are no junctions to speak of so hazards are quite low.
Fast straight sections of single carriageway with long sweepers and the odd section of S-bends on reasonable surface, low volume of traffic, minimal trucks so nice and relaxing and fun passing on the straights.
DN67C is No. 2 Romanian biking road in terms of both scenery and turns (Transfagarasan (DN7C) is still number one). Spectacular high alpine view ("trans" = crossing the). Newly asphalted road, about 5 km. are still waiting to be asphalted in summer of 2011, but no problem even now, as the road is al...
Fantastic, fast flat curves with dual carriageway sections ideally suited to sportier riders, not much scenery but great for getting a move on. Visibility good and passing easy.
Another excellent scenic road, surface is in places concrete slabs
that are patched together so not the best
(not good for stiffly sprung bikes really)
but it is changeable and is in places, in excellent condition. There are
many nice corners. This is quite a long road (about 2 hours
trave...
Starts off with long straight sections with average surface and quite open surface quite rough on straights where it has not been renewed (there was evidence of fairly extensive renovation works that I saw). From about Carpinet south becomes a fun twisty, bumpy mountain section through foret section...
Well surfaced, open, flat with great curves and very light traffic, through countryside and some small villages. One of my favourite Romanian roads, great for the sportier rider. Has long straight sections and because of the good visibility, passing other vehicles is easy
The Transfăgărăşan (trans (over, across) + Făgăraş) or DN7C is the highest (~2200m) and most dramatic paved road in Romania. Built as a strategic military route by Nicolae Ceauşescu, the 110 km of twists and turns run North to South across the tallest sections...
Great route over Carpathians Mountains with super scenery, fresh tarmac but with lots of traffic :( Caution the road surface was slippery in some parts when it’s raining.
Nice road, especially in the summer. Me and my passenger caught a heavy rain on the way back. Dont forget to stop at Sovata, or stay there a day or two, you wont regret.
A magnificent mountainous, until Vatra Dornei the road condition is perfect giving high speeds with lots of open corners enjoying the same time the great scenery. From Vatra Dornei towards Borsa (45km appr) the road is really terrible with lots of holes and dangerous spots, be vigiland, but the scen...
Note : Google Map coverage does not show this route correctly, the attached films shows it correctly. Mostly single track rising sharply through the wood with little or no run off and steep drops off the hillside this is actually quite a fun road to experience. bumpy and patchy surface makes it i...
Great day trip starting from Targu Mures (in diection of Reghin). Until Reghin it's boring and full of trafic, but then it opens and clears up. Road is good, but there are general hazards like oil spills, carriages on the road (and reckless drivers - looking at you drivers from Bucharest). After Top...
Piatra Arsa Transylvania ..., Romania June 24, 2013 - 4.0
pros: Lots of corners, new asphalt from 2012, open plateau on top of the mountain. cons: Pretty narrow, does not connect to any other roads so you must return.
Between Miercurea Nirajului and Sarateni the tarmac is new (about 1-2 years old), very smooth but there's gravel on the side of the road (and the occasional oil spill) - be careful. Apart from that great view and great corners. The Restaurant at the end (Ciuperca Mica) serves great food!
